6We got to chatting on the Cleveland web pages and I saw that Mariners probably would be interested in Lowe, so I threw out a possible trade idea... Rays and Mariners fans, what do you guys think of the deal? I feel like Garcia and Sloan to the Rays, plus one makes a ton of sense... Not sure if Bliss would be the right guy to finish the deal or not...
No brainer trade for TB. Bliss adds nothing to the package but the pitchers are so good it doesn’t matter. It’s what the Rays are hoping is the case in the Paredes trade (where Morel is worse than a nothing).
I don't think the M's would bite on this one. They went over bonus to sign Sloan this year. Garcia is still being stretched out as a starter but I see the M's moving him to the pen this year to fast track him to the show
I usually try to do trades for Cleveland with a now replacement, then if their is multiple prospects set that up with them hitting different MLB timelines... I figured Bliss is that now guy, with Garcia and Sloan coming up at different times. I feel like, on paper, Mariners get better in 25, without sacrificing anything now while the Rays, get two solid pitching prospects. I wonder if any Seattle fans will comment.
Ps. I like Morel and he showed flashes with the Cubs... maybe a full off season with his new team will help settle him down.
I like Morel for what he is, not what folks think he can be. He is an ok bat (110-115 wRC+) who is awful in the field. I’ve heard people say for years that his underlying stats support a 125-140 wRC+ and 4 fWAR player. Maybe that happens for one magic year but his actual track record suggests not. I was shocked at how bad he played for the Rays and I’m fairly confident he will play better next year. He really can’t play worse.
