6Is this trade based more on your lack of faith in J.Lowe or your liking the Guardian players?
Honestly both, I do think Chourio is over valued but teaming him up with Simpson and Guillen should solidify CF for awhile plus give TB depth for future trades at a traditionally weak position, I like Brito's bat a lot, Humphries could be turned into a stud and Aleman could be a great future bullpen arm. B Lowe could shuffle between 2B, 1B, LF, and DH for them to give them some LH power and J Lowe could be their every day RF that would thrive there. It's not really a lack of faith in J Lowe it's more my lack of faith in how TB handles him, in Cleveland he would have a more traditional environment of I play just RF and I hit in this spot, TB values mlb wins over development which is part of the reason they're in a minor rebuild, like last year when guys with no future with the team are taking away AB's from prospects just so they could get to 80 wins, they have Carlson getting chances over a former mlb top 30 prospect like Mead and then they look dumbfounded like we don't understand why he isn't succeeding in sporadic playing time, same thing it's hard for J Lowe to get his timing down and in a groove when there's no telling if he'll start or they're bringing a LH reliever in the 5th inning so we better Matt Joyce him for a Sean Rodriguez.
Did you mean Gillen when you said Guillen? T.Gillen will never play CF for the Rays. Not with a 40 grade arm. I'm not even sure Simpson will with an (at best) 50 grade arm. I've drunk some of the Simpson koolaide though and I guess I'm on board the Simpson will play CF bandwagon. I still think A.Smith is the long term answer at CF though. I like Brito as a potential Ray target, but I have no feelings on the pitchers one way or the other. I don't think either will be difference makers and i'm not all that sure Humphries will even be a starter. Add it all up and I'd prefer to keep J.Lowe personally. I agree with your view of the Rays' developmental failures. It's beyond frustrating...
Oh crap I completely forgot they got Aiden Smith, there were so many moves last year some guys slip through when i think and don't look at the list, I didn't realize Gillen's arm was so bad, idk what position he could play with that weak of arm, Humphries has 3 above average pitches and an average change up which TB specializes so he's a young LH with a chance for four 55 grade pitches, you know what TB could do with that, Aleman has a 70 FB and and 60 slider coming down on you from a 6'6" frame, they definitely could work with that.
Smith was a personal favorite of mine when he was in the Mariners system, and I was thrilled to see the Rays acquire him. I think Gillen is a LF only. I'm still miffed the Rays went Gillen and not Benge in the draft. I withdraw my statement on Aleman. He has the tools to be a legit closer.
Cleveland group has Aleman as a must add to the 40 man roster... He likely would have been on the playoff team over Walters if he didn't have an injury that cost him some time
