1before you dislike this, let me explain. The Astros have made it seem like they're trying to cut payroll, and especially if they extend Bregman, a Tucker extension is unrealistic. Their biggest hole is in first base after Jose Abreu got released, and they would jump at the opprotunity to get a great one at league minimum and under control for years. The Cubs do this to sign and then likely extend him in the following offseason. While they have a lot of outfield prospects waiting to come up and play where Tucker would play, the Cubs need a guarenteed power bat over everything, and Tucker is that and so much more. Why do I think the Cubs will spend that money for him when they lost the Ohtani war and pulled out of the Soto bidding war quickly? If he was a free agent I doubt he would go to the Cubs, but the team could give him somewhere near Dansby's contract (or probably slightly more) as an extension.
