1The Cardinals main weakness in 2022 was starting pitching, so in this trade the Cardinals would be getting a former top pitching prospect in Ermerson Hancock. While Hancock has an injury issue, he posted a 3.75 ERA and he 38 walks and 92 strikeouts with 1.20 WHIP. Now with Tom Murphey, he's getting back from the injury list but since Molina retired, the Cardinals could use Murphy as a starter or back up catcher if Herrera does well. The Cardinals would their first round pick Cooper Hjerpe, who I don't have much info on in stats but he was good in college. Yepez is a utility player, but he could help the M's out who are trying to contend just like the Cardinals and he could play outfield for the M's.
