Love it for the Yankees, but Tigers aren’t doing it after the run they went on. I actually expect them to sign Skubal to a huge extension this offseason. If the trade had any chance (which I don’t think it does) it would have to be way more to Detroit. Some win now pieces for them (Gil in this scenario). And salary relief. In addition to Jones and Dominguez, who they would flip for more win now pieces. Something like: To NYY- Skubal Badoo Baez (entire contract) To Detroit: Spencer Jones Jasson Dominguez Luis Gil Chase Hampton Austin Wells
This deal works within the values that BTV assigns. The Tigers only have 2 years of control of Skubal. They might sign him to a large extension, but with only two years to go before he becomes a free agent, Skubal's agent might demand more than the Tigers want to pay for a pitcher.
