Thinking outside the box on this one. Rays are likely going to trade their last two established bats this Winter (Y.Diaz and B.Lowe) for payroll savings. With their stadium issue and no broadcast deal, the Rays are going to be hurting for money. So if the team isn’t going to contend, should they hold McClanny until he shows he’s fully recovered from TJS, or do a trade this Winter to avoid the risk of setbacks? Now here is where it gets interesting. Vargas and Hope are both far off high upside prospects and are healthy to my knowledge. No issue with them. The pitchers though… well, all 3 had elbow surgeries this year. Sheehan might pitch in the 2nd half of 2025 but Ryan and Hurt are most likely going to miss 2025, and with the Dodgers having 7 pitchers on the 60 day that they need to add back to the roster next week, this trade both provides the Dodgers with another Ace (and a cheap one at that) while also providing a net 2 player improvement to the 40 man. The Rays aren’t contending next year, and will be trading several players from their 40 man this Winter, so they can afford to take on 3 high upside pitchers who won’t pitch much or at all next year. By the time these pitchers return to pitching, the Rays will have traded away Ras and Springs and will have opening in the rotation.

I think the Dodgers should/would ask for Taj Bradley instead. Shane McClanahan has to much injury risk for this package and I think they should/would pass. Revisit at the deadline or an early in season trade?

If the Dodgers are paying this much trade value for a pitcher, they will want a plug and play top pitcher. That’s McClanny not Bradley. Yes, there is injury risk, but the risk is on both sides. If the parties wait til the deadline and McClanny shows he’s back, his value will increase significantly while the 3 pitchers in this deal would have the same value. Plus, the Dodgers have a really bad 40 man problem. Ultimately I don’t think Bradley is the answer to the Dodgers. I also don’t think the Rays are trading McClanny this Winter. Just spit-balling a weird potential.

spit-balling a weird potential trade is all there is to do right now

I don't think Bradley has the current value you think he has, he has a ton of ability but if the season started tomorrow he's not making the Rays' rotation, he had a very up and down year and didn't exactly end on a high note, MP knows more about the numbers but if you take out his July then his numbers are probably dramatically different.

Yea, I like him more then most, next year is the year he steps up and becomes a top of the rotation starting pitcher! Dodgers get him just as he progresses and reap the rewards!

Haha when you get time you should Google "trades involving Chris Archer..." cause that's who Bradley is starting to remind me of, hopefully 2025 he can make the next step and breakout.

I love it for TB but I would think about swapping out Hurt or Shehen for maybe a lower value pitcher and Cartaya, they are already getting pretty deep at pitcher that would really boost the catching depth though.
