3Mariners add payroll flexibility, power OF/DH bat, and relief pitching 12M would be split across the 4 remaining years. They are deep at SS depth in the minors, so Celesten seems movable. Braves add a 5th starter and get rid of excess OF/DH depth. Both teams are trading from areas of excess, seems a win win. I’m not super familiar with Mariners needs, but I’d love to hear what’s good or bad about this deal from their perspective.
personally I think celesten is one of the few untouchable prospects due to his super high ceiling. Once Jp Crawfords contract is up after the 2026 season I think Celesten will take over in 2027. I also don't think the Mariners would be looking to give up a top 5 prospect within their organization for jorge soler.
Not a snowball's chance in hell the Ms would do this
