3The Red Sox are entering their window of contending. The Blue Jays are entering a rebuild. I presume that Boston would want a 48-to-72-hour window of contract negotiations. If they could strike a deal with Guerrero for zero net value, say 10 years for around $300 million, Casas for four years at discounted salary would offer the Blue Jays excellent compensation for Vlad, far better than just a draft pick when he inevitably left after 2025.
No thanks 👎, Red Sox will keep Casas and his ⬆️, Blue Jays can keep Guerrero and his ⬇️
Ms. Dajuba, you do realize that Vlad is only ten months older than Casas, right? With a hit tool of 70 and a raw power of 80? Casas is a fine player with a hit tool of 40 and raw power of 70, and I bet he'll be named to an All-Star team or two during his career, which will be long enough to put him on a Hall of Fame ballot. But Vlad is about Casas's age, and age is upside, and Vlad will likely be a perennial All Star and a first-ballot Hall of Famer.
