2I’m extremely doubtful that the Diamondbacks would attach Lawlar to Montgomery just to get out from his contract.
I would tend to agree, but Perdomo and Marie cover SS/2B and are controllable for the next 3+ years. As far as getting Montgomery off the books (no cash going with him in this proposal), it'd be a nice chunk of change to push towards FA. You'd also get back a former All-star pitcher, and an infield prospect with upside that could cover 2b/SS/3b.
