Why two catchers?

Diego Cartaya comes to camp ready to compete for the back up catcher spot, Nelson Quiroz goes to Lake County to start ‘25. The system could use the catching depth?

The system needs upper level depth... They just invested what 5 picks in the draft the last couple seasons in catcher plus the trade for Huff... Then they signed another 5 or so catchers the last couple seasons in international signees... Now they only have two Catchers under contract for 25 that have AAA experience or higher and that's Naylor and Fry... Fry likely is getting off season elbow work... Hedges, Nunez, Lavastida and Micael Ramirez are all free agents... Cartaya isn't ready to make the big league team in Cleveland... He hasn't shown the ability to throw out runners and gives up too many passed balls for Cleveland's liking. Plus his bat hasn't been good. Now he is still young, but he's not MLB ready for 25 at all... Quiroz is the same age as Cartaya and hasn't even gotten to AA... He's gonna be a free agent before he's even near MLB ready... Then the other major piece for Cleveland is 17 years old... Cleveland isn't trading Naylor unless they can get help now plus some and this doesn't do that...
