8Down vote for the A's. I think Gorman might make an interesting reclamation project; he's miscast at 2B but I've always wondered how he'd fair at the hot corner. Burleson's bat would make the line-up a bit too lefty. Davis hasn't been the hitter I thought he'd be.
While I understand that all 3 Cards are "projects," I think that's the most value the A's will recoop for an increasingly expensive DH.
Just a follow-up... sticking to the "projects" theme, guys like Jordan Walker or Victor Scott fit better for the A's than someone like Burleson. Walker as a buy-low, change-o-scenery type and Scott to facilitate moving Bleday to LF. Maybe Liberatore or Graceffo in place of Davis? I think the A's can get a Top 100 type prospect for Rooker but if I'm wrong (and Forst feels compelled to move him this winter) then those are the Cardinals/Redbirds that I think would be on the target list.
You may have seen the last of the Cardinals' trading "guys who need a change of scenery." If Walker gets straight, he's a younger cheaper Rooker, so he won't be in a package.
Yeah, I suppose the Cardinals have had a tough run recently with the change of scenery types. Regarding projects... a Gorman/Scott tandem is going to garner a lot more interest from the A's because they've shown a willingness under Forst to target specific needs when they trade.
Pretty good info, thanks
The A's can afford to keep Rooker in 2025, they've got no guaranteed money on the books and an extremely small arb-eligible group. The A's biggest issues (aside from a scumbag owner) are CF defense, 3B, and not having a legit front of the rotation SP. Now... Rooker isn't landing a #1/2 SP. Gorman is interesting if he can handle 3B. But Burleson doesn't address any of the A's needs while Davis is questionable to stick in CF and hasn't really hit with the Power you'd expect from a COF. Even if you're right and the A's can't get high-ceiling talent for Rooker, why would they take on projects that can't at least raise the floor at problem positions?
