7Down vote for the A's. Not a fan of Brito or Noel.
Brito will be a big league hitter... Where he plays on defense... that's the question mark... I feel like they would want a solid SP prospect back as well...
I agree with your sentiments on Brito. Heading into 2025 the A's top priorities (in the field) are improving CF defense, finding a 3B, and adding to the front of the rotation. I'd like to see them make a run on AZ's Alek Thomas, bumping Bleday to LF. Cleveland... Angel Martinez, Chourio, and Jackson Humphries is a strong bid for Rooker.
Front of the rotation would be rough, but the other two are honestly something they can do possibly do in a Rooker trade... I just don't see Martinez or Chourio moved for a DH... Though Rooker's numbers and sitting him behind Naylor, arent the worst of ideas, but the FO usually tries to keep certain guys and I think Martinez and Chourio are those guys... Humphries I think could be moved since Campbell, on paper, should be pitching next season, plus they invested a lot into high school guys this season...
Rooker isn't going to net a big league ready TOR, just to be clear, and Cleveland's pitching pipeline is still at low ebb. Which is why I keep swinging back to Martinez... he has the chance to fill an organizational need. There's zero incentive for the A's to trade Rooker if they aren't getting some of their 2025 needs met.
Yeah, no reason to trade Rooker unless you get exactly what you want, but then again, the A's aren't very predictable in their moves anymore... Cleveland's FO is stubborn and never changes their prices, but you at least have an idea of what they are trying to accomplish... Have any of the moves the A's made in the last couple of years worked out?
Technically no. But getting Mason Barnett for Erceg is looking good thus far.
