5Down vote for the A's. I don't think they'll want to trade for a guy coming off an 80 game PED suspension.
Yep, you may be right. Although another guy on here told me a few years ago that there was no way the A's would take a post-TJS Gunnar Hoglund for Matt Chapman, which they did. So you never know. Sometimes it's more about the best available offer than the best offer.
Fair enough. What about Trey Yesavage? He's our No. 2 prospect but isn't in the BTV system yet. And maybe Leo Jimenez as an upgraded side piece?
I'm a fan of Yesavage, not so much of Leo Jimenez. I don't think his bat plays outside of the middle infield and I'd rather the A's figure out what they have between the mix of Wilson, Gelof, and Hernaiz before adding outside pieces.
The A's should have listened to that guy, that trade was a disaster. Rooker is having a career year, he's been one of the best 10 hitters in baseball, and the team has nothing on the books in 2025. They can easily afford his Arb-1 salary and if the best available trade offer is a guy coming off a PED suspension and a pair of bench players then the smart decision is to pay Rooker.
