Big underpay, not sure why. We know Paredes doesn't hit the ball hard, pulls everything to left, and isn't the greatest fielder. But all of that was already baked in. Morel does have better exit velocity and an additional year of control, so the Rays maybe figure he can duplicate Paredes' production with some tweaks.
I get selling high on Paredes and buying low on Morel. But you have to actually sell high and buy low. This already accounts for regression to the mean on the expected stats. And that’s not a guarantee. Do really like Bigge though. Don’t count out the Rays, we all know. If at this time next year Morel is pulling everything in the air I don’t think anyone would be surprised. Will be fun to follow this one!
