Not that I think the Pirates would give up this quantity of prospects, even if the numbers work. Just more an exercise to highlight the sort of mid-tier names the Angels might target if offering their available OFs to the Pirates in trade.

It does – thus the focus on guys that are 3-5 years away. The hitch is that Ward is in a sustained swoon since banging his knee up at Wrigley. He's a streaky player, though, and his underlying batted ball fundamentals suggest upward regression, and he has two more affordable years on his contract after this season, which might be attractive to Pittsburgh.
