11Grover, I think I found one your GM would sign off on! 😆 and Cleveland definitely loses out on this one...
George Valera has been in the line-up at LF, RF, & DH. He's hitting .220/.319/.382 for a 82 wRC+. He has 25.6% IFFB and 48.1% GB rates. He hasn't been unlucky, he's been bad.
He's also has a .274 BABIP... The ability is there and watching him, he doesn't look bad at the plate at all and his swing looks fine. I sincerely believe he will be a solid big leaguer, but this is something we won't know til a few years from now, who was right lol
His BABIP won't go up unless he cuts his IFFB rate but that's gone up since last season. The report has been he struggles with high heat and a near 25% IFFB over his last 500+ PA gives the report credence.
That's fair, but he was a lot better in June than he has been... I mean he is missing a bone in his hand, so he does get some time for adjustment, so I am waiting to see how he responds in the second half of the year since I feel like everything he needs is all their still... He is also hasn't even gotten to 24 yet, so it's not like he is old or anything...
Valera's name came up 1st and I didn't bother to read the next. I just hit the down vote.
I just have a hunch in the second half Valera will start raking... People have failed him as a prospect at 23 years old when the stats support he has actually been unlucky. His BABIP and other indicators essentially are stating he's gonna start hitting well...
And then he'll get hurt again.
Well he can't break the bone he did in the past since they completely removed it...That was his main source of injuries
Cleveland is going to trade Valera this winter for a fringe MI prospect that doesn't need to be on the 40 man. Valera will end up on waivers by mid-season because of poor performance in sporadic playing time. You want to be the team that picks him up on waivers... not the one that traded a player for him.
Valera is still too good of a player and as too much potential to be put on waivers... He's still a very good prospect at the end of the day. Also his performance actually isn't even all that bad. His numbers state he has been hitting well, just very unlucky...
