Who says no?

My guess would be the Yankees wanting to hold on to Spencer Jones, but I like it

You might be right. I think it would depend on how the Yankees value their chances of resigning Juan Soto. If they think they'll retain him, that would leave them with an outfield of Soto-Judge-Dominguez. With Stanton still at DH, there wouldn't really be any place for Jones to play.

Rays say no. They don't trade with Yankees (at least not directly). Plus, the only reason Jones has $32.5MM trade value is because he's a Yankee. He's really not that good a prospect. The nearly 40% K rate alone makes him borderline unplayable in the Majors.

Yep, he needs to cut that down, but worth noting is that he's only had 3 minor league seasons (as he was signed out of college). He probably needs another couple of years between AA and AAA. A lot would depend on when the Rays think their next window of contention would be.

Agreed. There is definitely still time for him to develop into a good player, but he's over-ranked/over-valued right now. Rays would need more if Jones was the "headliner" because the NYY prospect bump that national media/ranking services give out won't affect the Rays internal valuations (not that they would ever trade Paredes to NYY). As for the Rays' next window, it probably opens in 2025. On paper, their pitching should be fully back next year with the return of Springs, Rasmussen and McClanahan. They won't be as good next year as they were the past few years because of the bats (particularly because of the gaping hole at SS that won't be filled for another year with C.Williams), but they'll be in the playoff mix all year. That's why some of us Rays fans are pushing for a sell off this year. Gotta take advantage of the Deadline overpays when you can, because they don't come along too often for the Rays.
