3Cubs IMO don't need a full rebuild and I think Snelling and Pauley compliment their timeline. Assad gives the rotation an upgrade from Mazur and insurance in case Darvish's issues linger. Triantos's offensive profile is precisely what AJ Preller looks for, and could move to corner OF if Profar prices himself out of the Padres market, or stay in the INF if Kim moves on next season.
This makes no sense for the cubs, Triantos should have minimum 20 value which would be a massive overpay
I don't know that I agree with "at least 20" in surplus value. Triantos is rated the 53rd overall prospect by MLB Pipeline, the 51st rated prospect Bubba Chandler, same age, starting pitcher (who are the most valuable assets in MLB) has a 16 surplus value. So tough to make the case that Triantos, a defensively limited infielder with admittedly a really good hit tool, should be a 20. If he could play SS, then we're having a completely different conversation. I definitely agree that he should be higher in value though.
