The Season is half over, how do you like your team?
Hey Ms. Dajuba! Ups and downs. Going into the season I didn’t expect the rotation to be as consistent as it has been (last three weeks notwithstanding-it has been the worst in MLB). Thrilled w/Volpe. Don’t move him from leadoff. Leave him right there. He is improving. Plate discipline especially. Judge and Soto are a non cheating modern day Manny-Papi. Gotta sign Soto. Above all else. Judge having a better season then 2022 is freaking incredible. Bullpen I always felt needed a strike out closer. Even going into season. I was in on Devin Williams. But Brewers are kicking ass so I was completely wrong about their projection. They might win the NL. Really impressed. Helsley is the guy we need. If cards sell. Also I always felt that DJ was a sunk cost for corner infield. Non reliable. Good dude, buf a bench piece. We should have sold high on prospects (non Martian) this past offseason. Unfortunately they have gotten injured or regressed this year (Jones and Warren especially). 4th best record in baseball? I’d take it overall! But Cashman CAN’T stand idle at deadline. Need both pitching and ideally 2 bats. Versatile defensively , contact based & under team control. Give away the prospects. 2 Bullpen pieces (one LHP and one legit closer-move Clay to super set up) and two bats (2B/3B multi position player and starting 1B) and lets go! Helsey Rengifo Tanner Scott Bellinger (with contract paid down in case he picks up option) would be my dream deadline.
