2Tatis not expected back until after All-Star break, Profar's been banged up all season. Padres could use an extra bat to take some pressure off of those two. Arozarena already has a relationship with Shildt from their Cardinals days. Rays could include cash to sweeten the prospect return.
BTV giving y’all false hope with Aroz. For the last 3 years Aroz has hit between 124 and 127 wRC+. For some reason he hit only 39 wRC+ in March and April, and his trade value plummeted from around $33MM to around $4MM. Since the end of April he has hit 132 wRC+, which is much more like his normal performance, and yet his trade value has only gone back up to $8MM. At that level, the Rays will just hold him until the offseason. Now, if you want to offer around $20MM or so for Aroz, the Rays might just listen. Rays say no to this trade. Low ceiling low floor types will get lost and forgotten in a deep Rays system.
