4Guards get a catcher who is hitting consistently, while the Rockies get possibly an electric bullpen arm if he can stay healthy.
IF Cleveland would have traded for Diaz, it would have been before the season started... They aren't trading for a catcher... Hedges is the team captain... Naylor is their catcher of the future and Fry is proving to be a very solid utility player who is the backup catcher as well...
While I agree Naylor is indeed the catcher of the future, except for the past few games he is not hitting well. Diaz has been hitting well this season. I say send Naylor to Columbus for August and bring him back in September and see if the re-set warrants him being on the playoff roster. I'm not getting rid of Hedges or Fry.
Cleveland's manager and FO have committed the main C spot to Naylor for better or for worse... Plus I think he is starting to shape up finally with the bat...
