4ROFL. Rays say no. There is almost no chance they trade Baz at this valuation or consider trading Isaac at all. Equally unlikely is the Rays trading for Luzardo (costs too much to acquire) or Cronenworth (isn’t better than any of the Rays existing infielders). Pauley is also unlikely because 3B/2B is the deepest position in the Rays system.
I know it's 100% unlikely but hear me out, Rays have lost basically all their best pitchers to injury this year. Luzardo probably the only real SP available at least for now. Padres and Marlins have talked Arraez and Luzardo, but Pads don’t really need pitching immediately anymore. It would probably be a desperation move by the Rays, but what if they start to really struggle for quality innings
But Bradley, Baz, and Odorizzi aren't far off from returning to go with Eflin, Civale, Pepoit, Littell, plus Rock, Lopez, and Montgomery at AAA and they could always do bullpen days too, then in the 2nd half they get Springs and Rasmussen back, TB doesn't usually do desperation moves, they would be more likely to make a Rock or Alexander type move, a reliever that they try at starting, also Isaac is probably untouchable at this point I would think.
As CC says, it would be a desperation move and the Rays don’t do those. Plus, it would only be necessary for about 5 starts. After that, the Rays get Bradley back in late April to early May, Baz comes back in May-June, Springs comes back in July and Rasmussen comes back in July-August. The Rays pitching needs are just a short term issue. Plus, I’m not convinced at all that the Marlins are willing to trade anyone of significance before the deadline. Off-season discussions don’t mean a team is looking to sell at all costs.
