9Both players here are out of options, which plays a big role in their low valuations.
Marlins gave usable bullpen piece for a utility substitute for a utility player. I don't give the Marlins a very good grade here. D.(poor)....Twins get nice score. Swapped out not really needed player for useful LH bullpen guy. B (good)
As a former Twins fan and now Marlins fan, Twins won this one. Gordon has no discipline, if they were flipping players trade a better RP for Austin Martin. and get some speed and OBP in this lineup ahead Arraez
I honestly thought that Gordon was going to be DFA'd if the Twins made another acquisition so I'm a little surprised that they got a usable reliever in exchange for him.
We have 2 Nick Gordons, the converted OFer Nick Gordon who broke out as an MLBer that could hit & field & the reconverted INFer experiment that was absolutely horrible both offensively & defensively. That plus getting hurt drove down Gordon's TV. If they'd keep Gordon in the OF, plus the fact that he's a LH hitter & a great clubhouse guy, MIA could quickly become the winner of this trade. Either way, it's a win/win trade
Twins fans will always have a place in their cheering hearts for Nick. Great guy and exceptional teammate. Wish him nothing but success ongoing. Hopefully he has a full chance to succeed in his home state.
Definitely helps the Twins a lot. Gordon still is a solid player, but he had no ability to platoon with Wallner/Kepler, which hurts his ability to add value as a 4th OF on this team.
Top 10% K rate, top 20% xBA. Okert's good. The Twins got a really nice piece for their bullpen.
Twins are very much open to adding a starting pitcher. Maybe that still happens here in the next month or two
