5No chance the Rays trade Isaac. Diaz might be available, but he'll cost a lot more. I also don't think Kim is still of interest to the Rays (if he ever was) because of the addition of Caballero.
It’s the rays and padres no one is off the board. Also I highly doubt a depth infield replacement means they aren’t interested in a gold glove shortstop who got mvp votes. There’s a reason Diaz isn’t this trade. The comp pick could be taken out but I think this is a very realistic trade.
Fair enough. I disagree for several reasons, though, including the Rays payroll situation (it's significantly higher right now than it has ever been, so adding significant payroll (for the Rays) seems unlikely), their rotation weakness (3 starters will miss most/all of the season), and the overwhelming infield depth they already have (ie: there was no reason to acquire Caballero if they were going to pursue Kim). That's just the acquisition side. We aren't even discussing the cost side. Isaac is unlikely to be moved given his upside and the fact he isn't Rule V eligible for another 2 years.
This trade is only 1 mil more to their payroll, and removing sullivan would make it a 3 mil better to their payroll
You may be right that the Rays trade Ramirez for an ML player making more than league minimum. I doubt it though. The thinking among us Rays fans is that Ramirez and a reliever like Adam get moved before OD for young, cheap talent and/or prospects to cut payroll. Hell, I think it’s 50-50 the Rays trade Diaz or B.Lowe on top of Ramirez and a reliever to get payroll down to last year’s OD level.
