Rays free up 2nd/1st base/DH slots for younger players, and get what might be the maximum value for Lowe now in his last guarantee year (while saving 8 million before two option years at 10 million}. Giants get a needed LH'ed bat for their line-up to play 2nd and DH. Rays get three young prospects in OF'er Meckler who is a pure hitter (would need to be added to their 40 man roster) and two young arms that add depth to their system.

Like the outside-the-box thinking, but Giants really don’t need any help at 2b. Unless Estrada is going to play SS a lot, which seems like a last resort.

Its a good deal but I'm not big on Meckler, if I was TB I'd try to find a way to get McCray instead or get Vaun Brown instead.

All three(Meckler/Vaun Brown/McCray have the same Value (8.0) so each work in the deal. Brown has more power and speed but had a huge falloff from 2022-2023 at the same exact level. McCray also has more speed and power but his KO's concern me. Meckler is a pure hitter and OB machine. He's been that way for the three years in college and the two years in the minors. There is still room for that in todays lineups, IMO.
