1If Mariner’s aren’t going to really lean into this year, then looking at a 2025 centered retool like this trade would make a lot of sense. They get two SP prospects to go along with Miller and Woo to hopefully ascend to the #3 spot (or otherwise have a lot of payroll flexibility to pursue one of the top options available next winter). They also get Merrill as the prize to play either SS or 3B next year (a long term infield of 2B Young, SS Merrill and 3B Colt Emerson would be something to look forward to) and can afford to eat Croenworth’s contract as a long term UTIL guy who can take 2B this year.
