2The Rockies aren't winning this season. The Red Sox are a long-shot. This fits both needs. For the Red Sox, Quantrill is a good bet to throw 150 IP at an ERA around five. In the long run, it gives Quantrill a chance to meet Breslow and his team, where he'd fit well after his MLB days. The Rockies get three gambles: Hamilton as a ++ speed CF/2B/SS who would hit around .240/.340/.300 in Denver; Dalbec and his bipolar personality disorder bat (he might hit 30+ HR with the Rockies, or he might not); and Spacke, who'll develop into a FB/CU middle-relief pitcher, possibly high-leverage at his peak. The Rockies get more talent and more risk, what a truly rebuilding team should strive to gain.
