5So the M's give up 5 years of an affordable ace for spare parts. Got it.
I think after the trade of Ray the Mariners are done moving on from any pitching of significance, Kirby, Gilbert, Woo, Miller, Castillo aren’t being moved and are unavailable to trade for I think. And I’m surprised that we are still seeing so many post with any of them involved.
In my eyes, Luis Castillo is among the best starting pitchers in the MLB. And I actually like the upside of his teammates George Kirby and Logan Gilbert more. I figure the Mariners are again going to be playoff bound. They were legit in '23. Why would the Mariners trade away one of the league's best players for this return? Ian Anderson's *maybe* back around midseason, Samuel Basallo is a 19 year old catcher and far from the second coming of Iván Rodríguez. Anthony Santander's good but not among the best like Castillo is. Is there anything in this trade proposal to consider as being reasonable?
No....there isn't. Everyone thinks because we trimmed some fat in our payroll that suddenly we are the Oakland A's and giving everyone away for their leftovers. The M's AREN'T BROKE. They are being fiscally responsible for the moment but not gutting the team. People are being ridiculous and acting like vultures thinking they are getting a ferrari for a ford escort. Its dumb.
Is this how bad the ROOT contract is for them? Has the revenue stream COMPLETELY dried up?
