3How badly do the Mariners want/need to cut salary? Fried will be cheaper this year, and no further obligation. Nets you a QO draft pick compensation, and the Mariners still have tons of SP options. Long shot, but I don't know if anyone outside their FO knows how crazy of a trade the Mariners are willing to consider. Dipoto is a trade-happy GM. Side note to @johnbitzer: might be nice to somehow designate who has no-trade clauses, 10-5 rights, etc. that would come into play in trade scenarios. Castillo has one in this instance for the '23-'25 seasons.
