2Still believe Mariners won’t move Kirby or Gilbert but wanted to post a slightly uncomfortable proposal that would include one of the top three prospects in Boston’s system in Anthony. I also believe it isn’t out of the realm of possibility that Boston acquired Grissom as a player another team identified as needing in a deal for one of their controllable starters. Grissom would fit the profile of hitter Seattle has been seeking this offseason and could fit them at third or second. The third player could be anyone. Theo used to be great at pulling third team into a trade or acquiring a player he didn’t have to make a deal work. I will always remember the trade of Renteria to acquire Andy Marte only to flip him to Cleveland for Coco Crisp. Don’t believe this will happen but wanted to throw the flipping Grissom scenario out there.
If Gilbert were to be moved the M’s need a SP back in return and a MLB proven bat. Otherwise, it doesn’t make sense. Maybe they would blink twice if a Mayer + Anthony package was offered, but I’m not sure that much of a prospect package would even have much interest.
