I think it takes a bit more than 7.6 to get Blackburn and his 2 years of control but a sneaky good mid rotation option.

Cool idea. I too was thinking about Blackburn to the Braves. I agree that he's probably added value to the A's for his intangibles and hence more than 7.6. I like him for Atlanta' team a Lee/Newcomb swap is ok. I'm hopeful that 4 of these players improve in 2024.

Down vote for Oakland. I'd be in fine if A's GM Dave Forst declined any call he received that featured an Atlanta area code. Setting that aside, the team seems to like Sean Newcomb and they want him to pitch for the A's in 2024. I consider Dylan Lee's shoulder injury a detriment to this deal. He missed most of 2023 because of inflamation, returned for a week in September, and then went back on the IL when the shoulder started barking again. Then he had surgery over the winter to "clean up" whatever was the problem. Forst has already shown he can't pick good players from the Braves organization when he gets his choice of the healthy guys... let's not add "arm in sling" in hopes of doing better. I suppose Ray Kerr could be a replacement option at a similar price point to Lee (4.5 BTV) but I don't find trading a SP for a RP and a prospect very inspiring. Owen Murphy is a good prospect and piques interest but I'd rather flip Blackburn to Pittsburgh if their Comp A is on the table.

I hear you. I think Blackburn is pretty undervalued by this metric. Braves have fleeced a few teams over the last couple of years, it's not just the A's but they have been stung the most.
