5Who plays SS for the Rays? Why would the Rays move Glasnow for a sub-standard return in the SP department? Where is a solid Sp going to the Brewers? How about Bobby Miller? This is definitely a Pro-Dodger trade. Rays and Brewers GM do not even aswer the phone with this proposal.
This trade doesn't work for the Rays. As doofus says, the Rays need someone to play SS next year and in future years if Franco can't go. This trade takes both those SS from the Rays (Walls and Williams). On top of that, this trade has the Rays trading 5 players and only getting 3 back, none of whom are proven major leaguers, in a trade with $82MM in trade value. There is absolutely zero chance of that ever happening. Absolutely zero.
I agree with the SS issue for sure, but the Rays are constantly dealing with 40 man issues. Consolidating their 40 man crunch with 2 for 1 etc deals is not out of the question if they fill holes (plus getting out from Margot and Glasnow is what they are looking for anyway). Catcher is a need for them and they are always looking for quality control SP. Not exactly sure that Frelich fits their current needs though, unless they have him play CF platoon with Siri, which may not be likely.
The lack of pitching returning to the Brewers dooms this trade immediately. Milwaukee wouldn't want the weak hitting Walls. The Brewers would much rather keep Adames than get Williams.
How much value does 1 year of an appropriately paid Glasnow really worth? Do you really think you're going to get back a top end SP prospect for him? Pepiot is a solid number 4 SP with 6 years of control. Same with Burnes and the Brewers. Yes, the Brewers would love top end pitching back, but why would the trading team do that? Why would the Dodgers trade 6 years of cheap Miller for 1 year of Burnes? Im very confused on this Brewers need high end SP for in Burnes trade narrative. Im a Brewers fan and would absolutely love that, but I also have to live in reality. Maybe if we traded Burnes 2 or 3 years ago or included Devin? I do understand the Wander issue. That is very real and no way this deal would even be discussed without that being resolved and that resolution exonerating Wander. As for Brewers not wanting Walls? That I don't agree with. Walls is a fantastic defender and has hit for stretches in the MLB. Much more than they can say for Turang who struggled mightily hitting last year, but remained on the field because of defense. Lastly,, Adames is gone soon too unless they pay him a bunch. The Brewers would want Williams>Adames at their current market prices.
