2In your GM OVERRIDE you wrote; “ Vlady is great and signed long-term helps to lure Soto and others.” but Vlady is 2nd year arbitration eligible, 3rd year next year, then he’s a free agent. He’s not signed “ long-term”
I included the end that is desired as the reason. Contrariwise did not make sense to me. To include one premise without the other premises and conclusion or have too many sentences crowding the heading. Probably could have used the word if or would to be clearer. To my mind the Blue Jays are very smart they would NEVER move Vlad unless they could not agree to an extension and they didn’t feel confident signing him in FA. Thus, they only would move him like the Nats did Soto under the same scenario. I was thinking the Giants’ might just line up with a players package. Suppose that an agreement is had. Soto has really great numbers at Oracle and is a FA next year maybe he is more likely to sign with the Giants if Vlad would be there. Should Vlad have a great offer to extend long-term and being friends with Soto and having hit his first MLB home run at Oracle and being a righty, maybe he is more likely to sign with the Giants with Soto there. Further, if both were there signed long-term and the team was more attractive to players, maybe other FA’s would be more likely to sign too. As few if any lefty hitters seem interested in playing at Oracle Soto would seem to be the best bet to sign on a Giants team if it is attractive enough and has player(s) he is friends with or could be friends with. This also assumes several other moves by the Giants to become more attractive to players as a great and winning team. Further, assumes Boras takes Soto to FA because the Yankees could not extend him.
