3Cards get much needed pitching and rays get solid return(imo). Any thoughts?
Actually, the Rays shed closer to 29.8 million by adding Adam to the deal , so it is not that far off. Maybe swapping Carlson for Edman. That saves the rays closer to 13million that they spend however they want, and still gives them a serviceable pitcher and a decent outfielder for two pitchers that likely won’t be on 2024 opening day roster. Doubt if Rays will deal Glasgow for just prospects.
I think it's very unlikely the Rays trade Gasnow for salary relief only to add Matz and Edman to the roster (ie: adding $20MM to save $25MM), particularly when Edman only makes sense if the Rays' Franco doesn't play next year, which is unknown at this time.
