3Ragans seems like a high upside, controllable pitcher Breslow might target (big arm with a solid secondaries). Garcia fits the “defense first” profile that the Red Sox are looking for in a 2B with offensive upside if he can lift the ball more. Royals get Houck, who more or less replaced Ragans at the MLB level in addition to 2 top-5 position player prospects and a likely LRP in Mata.
Take Garcia & Rafaela out of the deal and I’d agree to it.
Take Houck and Garcia out. I like the idea of these two players to the Red Sox (but dont like the idea of paying 35 for Ragans) but don’t think the Royals, having just trading for Ragans this past deadline, would be willing though.
