5Yes, I would do this. Is it enough to pry A & P from the Rays? If Dipoto could land both those guys w/o giving up more than one of their controllable young arms, I’d be ecstatic I think. Gilbert is arguably the best of the group but that would certainly give them the line up to definitely compete with the state of Texas for the division.
I would be very surprised if the Rays traded Aroz and Paredes in the same trade or if they wanted Gilbert at his BTV price (too expensive for the Rays).
Idk why everyone keeps trading Gilbert to the Rays, they aren't paying the trade cost for a guy who's super 2 available that they'd only have for 2 seasons before trading his last 2 years, they aren't trading 3 seasons of Arozarena and 4 seasons of Paredes for a pitcher and spare parts, it's extremely unlikely they trade both in the same deal cause most teams don't have the young mlb players or prospect depth unless it's like the Dodgers or Cards to do so or would be willing to give up that much.
The proposal centers on three years of Randy Arozarena and four years of Isaac Paredes for four years of Logan Gilbert and five years of Matt Brash. In other words, the Rays gain two added years of team control (even without Cade Marlowe). Sometimes folks forget that just 21 months ago coming out of Spring Training, Brash beat out George Kirby for the fifth slot in the Seattle rotation. Brash and Kirby are the same age and come with the same years of team control although Brash, unlike Kirby, has not attained Super Two status. Tampa Bay is the ideal franchise to capitalize on Brash's versatility.
Yeah, but pitchers break and a team can lose 2 years of control overnight with TJS. When the Rays trade top players, they want 3-5 players in return per top player. They might want Brash but Gilbert is a nonstarter for the Rays at his BTV price. He’s just too expensive.
