I wanted to try this type of trade without Dbacks giving up Lawlar. Personally I like the guys the Rays would get, and the DBacks would make a elite rotation and add a middle of the order star. Imagine Gallen, Glasnow, Kelly, Pfaadt and a 5th starter. And Carroll and Randy together in the outfield would be so super good. Rays get a haul. Tommy Troy was one of my favorite players in the draft, I was hoping my beloved Giants would get the Stanford shortstop. Yu Min Lin is making a fast rise and turning heads as a clear AZ top 6 prospect. Gino Grover is also top 10. Ryne Nelson still can be a solid arm given his age and arsenal, and no doubt TB could help him out. Again, I don't think that Lawlar is on the table, so have to compensate with that. And given the demand for these types of players this value overpay by AZ is not as much of an overpay

This trade is an overpayment but I don’t think it’s an offer the Rays can’t refuse. It’s heavy on young prospects, which makes it risky, and I don’t love the prospects for the Rays. Grover probably doesn’t stick at 3B given his poor fielding and weak arm. He’s much less desirable as a 1B/DH. Troy is a fine SS prospect but where does he play if Franco or C.Williams lock down SS (or SS and 2B)? He’s not expected to have an elite bat. That’s more than 1/2 the trade value right there. I think D.Jone would be the price for an Aroz trade (and I don’t think the Rays trade Aroz and Glas together).
