The site obviously places too much value on Tatis and his enormous contract while not giving any value to Hendricks (especially viewing his last season performance). This deal clears payroll for the Padres in 2025 and beyond, while filling the multiple SP holes, long-term C and giving them an MLB ready bat in Triantos (also undervalued here).

raldaz I feel your pain. Sonny Gray (age 34) is worth $75 in the real world over next 3 years. Last year Hendricks(33) added a tick to his fastball, still had the great changeup and command. No health issues. If he were a free agent he's easily worth $20-25 on a 1 year contract, based on the Gray contract alone. He will make 16.5 in 2024, but only rates a -1.9 here. But this is the model we play with. I'd say keep Hendricks since he's undervalued anyway, offer the Pads $38 mil. In real life, Cubs should be able to make the deal w/o throwing any money into the pot. Plus, MLB would probably veto the cash anyway.
