Why would the Rays want to do this trade? They don't save money in salary and they swap better players for lesser players. Glas for Matz... no thanks. J.Lowe for O'Neill... HAHAHAHA. Torkelson? Where's he gonna play with the Rays? At current BTV values, I'd just as soon the Rays keep H.Ramirez and his 124 wRC+ bat over the past 2 years than add Torkelson and his 107 wRC+ bat (we'll ignore the 75 wRC+ he put up in 2022 because he was a rookie) at a cost of $33MM. Edman would be a fine safety net if Franco can't return to the field, but not at a $12MM trade value.
