5Guardians fan. Guards get one year of Santander and a long-term upside bat in Norby (who I would assume is blocked in BAL by their great IF talent). O's get Bieber and replenish some of the bat talent they lose to CLE. Cards turn one bat prospect into two advanced pitchers fairly close to the majors.
I do like Norby going to Cleveland, but the pitching down in the minors is really thin. Messick is undervalued here, and I would like to see what Campbell is first before giving up on him. Santander doesn’t thrill me, just having one year remaining. I don’t mind trading Bieber. Maybe just Bieber for Norby straight up?
I view Santander and Bieber as basically a one for one, which makes only getting one year of Santander for one year of Bieber perfectly fine. Fills a huge hole in RF as a guy you can depend on for .250 and 25+ HRs.
Cleveland would say no... They aren't giving up Campbell nor Messick for that value... It's very possible in 25 Campbell is a top 100 prospect...
Unless you think you have some insight I don't not sure how you can say this would not happen. The package overall is admittedly a little unusual and unlikely with so many moving parts. Not sure I buy that they'd be that attached to two floor over ceiling SPs who have barely pitched in the minors. My fellow Guards fans on this site seem to view their top 10+ young SPs all as untouchable. I can only think of a few (Williams, Bibee, Clemmey, Espino, maybe Cantillo) that I'd value that highly. Of course the org likes the guys they drafted, but doesn't mean there's no way they'd part with them.
