2Cardinals have about 14 young players that are competing for at bats. This clears one of the young players from the mix(one of the least likely to get AB's) and clears payroll for them to make other major additions. This gives them a controllable starter with four years of team control left and another younger MLB ready starter with minor league options still. This will further deepen their staff while reducing payroll. Yankees get a 3B they have needed for a long time, a much needed bat, and a CF to fill in while Jasson Dominguez is rehabbing that could easily shift to a 4th outfielder when he returns.
