6This would be a terrible idea for the Cubs. All three of these prospects could contribute next year for the Cubs. Bichette’s value would decrease with a move from SS to 3B.
Totally agree with LC. I wanted Cubs to take Kyle Tell over Matt Shaw, but Shaw is as close to a "can't miss" prospect as anyone in the Cubs org. Horton and Caissie are just a notch below.
The Jays aren't rebuilding. Any deal for Bichette that doesn't include Hoerner and Happ + coming back is a pipe dream.
The Cubs spent $168mill on a shortstop less than a year ago. They have other options for 3b than a player who will use arbitration money to prevent the Cubs from acquiring/retaining pitching. Better off just extending Steele.
Terrible for the Jays we want PCA,Horten,Canario at minimum.
Idk why anyone would get Bichette, who will cost the price of a shortstop both in a trade and in any extension you give him, and then stick him at 3B. This site puts him at worth ~$50 million, and any extension you give him is probably Swanson's contract at the minimum? That is already over $200 million and it might be even more depending on the extension. I get he's younger and better than Chapman, but is that worth paying 2-3x?
