I feel like this would be a buy low opportunity on both ends. There are additional reasons it would be a fit for each franchise. History suggests the Guardians would like to move Bieber’s salary and get something for him before he leaves in FA. Cora would probably be happy just to send Verdugo packing. Adding a starter would just be the cherry on top. Boston could spin the trade as, “hey look, we flipped Mookie’s disappointing replacement for a former Cy Young winner!” while Cleveland instantly improves their lineup in the form of a solid hitter who also brings excellent corner outfield defense.

Cleveland has no need for Verdugo... Red Soxs have like no players Cleveland would ever typically trade for that the Red Soxs have available. No way, on paper, even a trade like this happens... And about Verdugo, Cleveland has Kwan in LF, who's a very good leadoff man... Brennan in CF and then guys like Valera and DeLauter at or near MLB ready. They cut 3 LH OFs and drafted 5 LH OF in 22 and drafted more in 23... Cleveland needs a RH, RF with pop... Verdugo isn't it.

With Bloom finally gone let’s hope that Breslow and company don’t continue to acquire injured pitchers. Bieber is damaged goods, big big pass on this for the Red Sox. The Red Sox need quality consistent pitching from their staff this year and have plenty of money to fill their needs through free agency instead of trading away assets for another injured SP who is showing all the signs of decline.

Your Red Soxs will ask about Biebers value, but the two sides aren't good fits for a trade... I cannot see these two teams making anything outside of a prospect swap (if that even) this off season.
