1Hello ItchyBob! This is another cool trade idea from you that involves the Braves. I'm into this one. I feel like the White Sox should punt for 2024 and focus on the 2025 season. While they could retain both Eloy Jiménez and Dylan Cease through 2026 a rebuild with guys like Elder who won't reach Arbitration until 2026 makes more sense to me. I'm confident that Elder's a Major Leaguer and I think he has upside. He was very good in early 2023 and it's not a fluke or a small sample size. He had similar pitches all year. I seem to remember a stat that hitters weren't swinging on his slider early so maybe a change in his sequencing? I'm not pitching coach. Elder had some good outings later in the season, he had some bad ones too. I suspect that he was struggling to adjust to the game and also fatigue. Early player projections are published on a site like Fangraphs and it has him being of less value. I'm feeling like he's able to equally go in the opposite direction and have an even better one. It seems lots of us Braves fans were caught by surprise by Elder coming out of ST last year. Fool me once, but fool me twice ... As for the two guys currently with the White Sox, I like the upside there as well. Eloy Jiménez was a prospect with the Cubs that I really liked about 10 years ago. I'm into the 5-tool outfielders that hit the ball hard to all fields. I'm not sure he's got me as excited these days about his potential but it's a buy low scene now. The Cubbies hand both Jiménez and Cease in the same trade to the White Sox and it'd be fun to see them go together to another new team. I prefer having Dylan Cease in a "must win" over Bryce Elder right now and so that's what I'm into for the Braves. For the Pale Hose, I'm more into betting on the future and I think Elder's got that in overall value. Eloy Jiménez is a steal for the Braves at -5.9 if he's able to launch 30 HR's and get on base a third of the time. Really interesting trade idea! I miss being able to have paragraph breaks. I know I'm in the minority of having more than just a few words to comment with.
