This proposal intrigues me. I'm a Braves fan and also have it in mind that Lucas Giolito's my #1 trade acquisition. I like this trade a lot more from the Braves' side, I hope that someone finds these comments to be of interest. According to this site, Giolito has the highest trade value; he's what makes it all happen. Kendall Graveman & Gregory Santos are also included. Those two players have values that are nearly cancel out by each other. I'm curious to know what the reasoning is for Rick Hahn to also ship them off like this. Graveman's halfway through his 3-year contract and he's about 20th in AVV among relievers. He's among his peers in terms of age and $. It isn't any sort of deal for the team and he's having a poor season, like many of his teammates are. However, if we strike April's games from the record then he's been good enough in my eyes to help the Braves who are a patching it together due to pitcher injuries. If I were the White Sox, I'd definitely trade Graveman by the deadline. I'd be willing to take on a bit of a risk in what I got back but it'll be for positive value. The White Sox surely can afford to keep Graveman on their roster as he excels as a closer for the rest of 2023 and early 2024. Gregory Santos, like Graveman, is another reliever that's has had his ups and downs. He's hot in 2023. I'm squinting at this site's evaluation on him. If he can be this good for the rest of 2023 then maybe he's the headliner of this trade. From the Sox' side, WHY would they trade this guy now?! If he can put in a full season and then's traded in the offseason the White Sox will be better for it. This surely isn't an inclusion just to make the trade happen. Addressing the return that the Sox get, it strikes me as blasé. Ian Anderson's arm injury knocked him out for the season. He was on fire in the COVID-19 season, 2021 wasn't great but didn't suck, but is losing relevancy. Is this the sort of guy the White Sox would want for their future? Anderson and Santos have nearly the same value on this site. Santos is under contract until 2029 and a top 10 WAR reliever in terms of IP. Why would the White Sox want Anderson at this value? And he's on par with the biggest single return value. :( I like Jared Shuster for the White Sox. It matches up with what I think the White Sox should be shopping for. I like Dylan Dodd more than him, but it's good. I think it's a deep dive on the Braves farm system to know a thing about Brooks Wilson. Like Ian Anderson, he had "Tommy John" surgery recently. The White Sox, like any team, are looking for upside. I'm just a fanboy that reads stuff on the Internet and who is also curious to know what makes Wilson worth trading for. The White Sox have NO interest in Kirby Yates. This would just be a salary dump. The Braves don't need that. The Whites don't need to take that. The inclusion of Yates makes no sense. He's serviceable to the Braves until he isn't. They keep running him out there. I think he's good and will be on their postseason roster. I do like your proposal, Hughz10. Giolito to the Braves is my top trade deadline pick for my favorite team. I'm into Graveman's upside, I think the Braves need some help in the 'pen, they can afford him. I'm all for trying to catch lightning in the bottle when the risks of failure are mitigated. With the best record in MLB and a foundational core in place, paying up for a guy like Santos in a trade with the White Sox is a good idea in my opinion. What I don't like as much with your proposal is the return that the Sox get back. It doesn't make sense to me because it doesn't fit. Why would the Sox take negative value on Yates? $5.75MM on the Club Option in 2024 is a lot for a rebuilding team. And the White Sox should be doing a rebuild. Rebuilding with Anderson and Wilson though? I'm very shy about banking on pitchers who've had throwing-arm injuries, that haven't demonstrated dominant pitching to build on, and aren't on the "buy low". I'll post a "reply" trade proposal for you.
