1Weird trade, admittedly, but seems to work for both sides? Moncada is owed $43m over the next two seasons, and the Sox get some salary relief from a tough-to-move contract. In return, they take on the final year for Kyle Hendricks in order to add some depth to rotation. They also bring back Madrigal to man 2B and McKinstry to fill at 3B and play all over the diamond. The Cubs move three players off the 40-man and see if they can rejuvenate Moncada in a new situation. By getting the Sox to kick $11m, they essentially take Moncada for 2 years, $32m and moves Hendricks off the books.
