This trade happens assuming Devers signs an extension with the Giants following the trade. Giving up prospects #3 (Matos), 5 (Arteaga), and 13 (Bednar), along with a ready-to-contribute outfielder in Yaz, this trade is almost reminiscent of the Betts trade that took place a few years ago. Instead of taking in only prospects, the Red Sox chose to acquire Alex Verdugo, a younger, controllable outfielder, and didn't get the Dodgers' top prospects. If Boston moves Devers, they're gonna want youth, but they're also gonna want MLB ready contributors. From the Giants standpoint, if they want to sign Judge, they gotta add pieces around him. What says commitment more than adding an All-MLB candidate? The inclusion of Dalbec was a last minute one. He seems like the type of guy that fits in San Fran and could contribute at 1B depending on who else they add. Boston has a loaded 1B room and even though they could turn to him to replace Devers, I find it more likely that they turn to an outside solution (Justin Turner maybe?) Thoughts?

I'm also thinking 10 years, $310 mil for Devers. How does that sound?

👎 For the Red Sox, none of these 4 would be of any interest and yea I would think 10/$310 could get it done but 12/$330 is my suggestion
