1The Cubs are in a unique position, closing in on the CBT but also clearly wanting to add another lefty reliever. In order to open up enough cap room space to fit a guy like Zach Britton or even Matt Moore, they may seek to offload the paltry $1.55m owed to Rowan Wick in order to separate their offer from the rest of the pack. For the Marlins, Rowan Wick has closing experience, he has velocity and spin, and he’s cheap. The Marlins still need to fill out their bullpen for the 2023 season, and while Wick won’t light the world on fire, he will give a stable presence in later innings. In return, the Cubs ask for two 35+ FV pitchers. Fitterer has the cut-carry fastball that the Cubs like, and they’ll likely see if he can add a sweeper. Palacios has phenomenal command, but he may only end up being a junk baller if he can’t add further velocity. Regardless, the Cubs could stand to add SP arms, and these two interest enough to send out Wick.
