I wouldn't want to see the Braves make this trade. The 2023 rotation's looking like Fried, Morton, Strider and Wright are sure bets for 4 of the 5 starting spots on the roster. I'm hopeful about Soroka and I'm still open to the possibility of Ian Anderson being a pleasant surprise in 2023. Madison Bumgarner is a square peg for a round hole in this. Bumgarner's contract is beefy. He's owed $23MM in '23 (with $5MM deferred) and $14MM next year. It's also pushing the Braves into the luxury tax bracket and therefore even more costly. Druw Jones playing in Atlanta like his dad is a cool idea. Winning another World Series is a cooler idea. Jim Callis of MLB.com recently listed Jones as arriving in the Majors in 2026. Jones might exceed that timeline, but it sure doesn't look like he'd be in the mxi for the Braves this season or next if this trade were to happen. And it's all hands on deck right now for Atlanta. It's a cute idea but it has no merit. That timeline for Druw Jones might be great for Arizona, especially if he's a year or two ahead of Callis' schedule. That team has a slew of prospects that look like they're on the verge of starting for the big club. Bryce Elder could match up for them as well in this regard. Is the trade only good from the perspective of the D-Backs because it frees up $? That ship sailed a whole ago. MadBum's value is tanked and I think it's very possible he's a 5+ ERA guy in '23. With his limited no-trade, he's not going anywhere and certainly not attached to a solid prospect like I think Jones is. I'm very bearish on Bumgarner doing much to make himself worth rostering for another team. Add a comment and let all of us know what's good about this trade idea. I like silly ideas too. I'm just hoping there's more to it than what I've mentioned.

All I can see is "buying" a prospect from the Braves' side of the equation, and that's a steep price tag, when it's lumped in with the exorbitant dead weight of Ozuna's contract to boot. Definitely not the $10M price tag of buying Touki when we got Arroyo as well. I agree with your timeline assertions and don't think this fits the Braves side at all. Likewise, I think with Arizona's timeline, why wouldn't they just eat the contract, bide their time, and keep the talent? No need to make a bad situation worse.
