2A's have a C logjam, Red Sox have a C black hole. Boston has many different options at 1B, including eventually moving Devers there. A's also have a SP logjam, and Boston needs depth. This trade helps both sides.
Pina is a rental placeholder until Soderstrom's bat is ready for backupC/DH/1B. Susac won't be ready for a couple years at least, all the rest of the C depth chart is backups and filler. Langeliers is not available. The SP depth chart has a lot of injuries and 5th starters, and Waldichuk ranks at #3/4. Blackburn is the only true lock to make the rotation, though Fujinami and Rucinski have the second and third spots to lose in ST. It's the opposite of 'logjam'. I really don't think you understand the state of the A's.
